Unless you have been living under a rock and have missed the massive hype in music at the moment, Italian band, Måneskin wins over Europe with their hard hitting, epic, song Zitti E Buoni. Although on the night, Italy came fourth in the jury vote, with Switzerland in the lead, the four piece Rome rockers won the European public vote, with a huge score of 529 points. Yes you heard that right, a rock 'n' roll song won Eurovision! During their winning speech, Frontman Damiano screams "Rock 'n' roll never dies!" Since the performance has gone viral, it's even become very popular in America. I can see them blowing up even more now and being a well known name worldwide. You better be quick when they release tour dates now because it will probably sell out fast!

Måneskin have a massive following in Italy but as a huge fan of rock 'n' roll myself, I was shocked to hear that this band had been around for years, and have toured the UK quite a few times. I initially thought that they were a new band that got together just before the Eurovision, however they started busking on the streets of Rome, they took part on the Italian X Factor in 2017, and just before Eurovision 2021, they also took part and won an Italian music festival called Sanremo Music Festival. Their name is Danish for Moonlight. The bassist and founder of the band, Victoria, says that they were desperate for a name, kept shouting out random names, and then she came across Måneskin and the rest of the band loved that name and clicked with it straight away. Although they are an Italian band, Victoria is half Danish which is how she chose the name Måneskin, and we love it.

Damiano David is the 22 year old lead singer and songwriter of Måneskin. Damiano was born in Rome on 8th January 1999 and he is the oldest member of the band. Shockingly I can't believe he's only 22, he looks and seems a lot older and I feel old, only being three years older than him. I love how he owns the stage with his presence, he sings in both Italian and English, and his voice is so powerful and strong.

Re-watch their two final performances of Zitti E Buoni at the final of the Eurovision, before and after they won, and the winners interview and press conference here:

I'm excited to hear more music from Måneskin, hopefully in the near future, (I hear that they're working on a new album at the moment), and I hope to see them live one day. Hopefully they will do a UK tour, once the pandemic is finally over and it's safe to tour again.
