Talking Lens Productions

Internship (3rd August 2017 - 26th February 2018)

In August 2017 I began an internship at a film company in Leeds called TalkingLens Productions. From this I am gaining more film experience, as I have mainly worked in television, and I am getting knowledge and skills, and I am able to work with industry professionals, including BAFTA winner Raza Mallal. I mostly worked on the pre-prodution of a low-budget feature film called The Chairman.

BBC Sports Personality of They Year Awards 2016

Work Experience (December 2016)

I got the wonderful experience of working at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards for a weekend in December 2016. During my time there I was a runner and a seat filler for sports stars in the audience, during the rehearsals, and I also experienced what it was like to be on stage with Gabby Logan, Gary Lineker, and Clare Balding during the rehearsals. I also had the experience of watching how a live awards show works both in the audience and behind the scenes.

Castleford Tigers Rugby Club

Work Experience (March & Summer 2016)

In March, I did 4 days work experience at Castleford Tigers Rugby Club. I worked with the Media team and throughout these few days. I also went back and did work experience in August 2016. I was a runner for both of the Media team workers, as well as sitting in on press conferences, team photoshoots, and interviews. I also took some photos and video content for their website, YouTube channel, and their Facebook page. I also had the pleasure of seeing what it is like on a match day when Sky Sports is their.

Volunteer (July - September 2015)

During my time volunteering at the British Heart Foundation, I worked on their cashier desk, re-stocked the shelves with new stock, and gained great customer service skills, as well as gaining more team working and individual skills, giving me more confidence with people, and better communication skills.

Made In Leeds TV

Work Experience (April 2015)

During April 2015 I got the chance to gain some work experience at Made in Leeds TV. As I study Media and Communications at university the modules that I was studying in my first year were TV Studio, TV Location, Music Industries, Radio, Professional Media Practice and TV, Film and Video Media Theory. So, I knew that I wanted to find work experience in one of those fields. I started to email some companies and ended up getting a quick reply from a new, local, television company near to where I am from called Made in Leeds TV. I agreed to do a 2 week placement there and started when I got home on the second week of the Easter holidays. I enjoyed my placement at Made in Leeds TV as they threw me straight in at the deep end and gave me different jobs to do daily. First I started in the broadcasting room where I started to upload the news and television programs onto their website and onto the Made in Bristol, Cardiff and Tyne and Wear websites as well. I then had the opportunity to watch them film a few shows and I also got to work on the auto cue during one of their filming's for the weather.

Scratch Media

Work Experience (February 2015)

On the 9th and 11th of February 2015, I completed a two day work experience placement for the Scratch Media society at university. Scratch TV and Scratch Radio were doing a full week of shows and it was called Scratch Media week, I wanted to help out so that I could get more experience in working in a professional TV studio, gain new skills and to watch and learn about how everything works. On the first day I was the guest liaison for the day which meant that I had to greet the guest that was going to appear on the Scratch Chat TV show and I had to go through with the guest about what he was doing and to show him where to go. I enjoyed being a guest liaison for the day and gained socialising skills and time management skills as I had a set time to find the guest and to bring him back in time for the live show. On the second day I was a runner which meant waiting around a lot during the rehearsals and the live show but I still gained experience and tried helping out as much as I could throughout the day. I started off looking for and collecting people needed for the rehearsals and then moved some of the props during the rehearsals and the live show, as well as moving instruments for the guest singers and bands after they had performed. I really enjoyed the two days work experience that I had at university and I can’t wait to have more work experience in the future.
